Time for weekend adventures!
The best thing to live near the mountains is that you can go on holiday for a weekend. Other people come from far away to see the mountains. Already some years ago I was dreaming about a winter-bivy, but I never did do it, for all sort of reasons. But finally I could find someone who is crazy enough to spend a night out in the wild (and cold) with me.
Some photos are attached, please take you down jacket and enjoy.
We learned some lessons camping out in the winter the first time. For example build a little snowwall around the tent, that the wind cannot blow into to inner layer. Another way to keep the cold a little better outside, is that you put your luggage next to the inner tent fabrique and sleep in the middle of the tent. Usually I take a hoody with, so I can use the hood for sleeping and keeping my head warm at night.
For the photography part of winter camping it is advisable to keep you spare batteries inside your jacket near your body to keep it warm.
If you take the lenses and the body inside somewhere (for example a hut) then be aware that the lenses will film over.
If you wanna clean your lense in the freezing winter than do not breath on the lenses, because it could freeze imediately.
Hopefully you feel inspired to start your own winter adventure!
